North Dakota EMS Foundation Scholarships

The vision of the EMS Foundation is to promote and support prehospital emergency medical services across the great state of North Dakota.  The Foundation is dedicated to the state’s EMS providers, ambulance services, and quick response units; and it places a major emphasis on the continued viability of individual rural providers and response groups. 

The EMS Foundation sponsors education scholarships for paramedic and EMT students as well as the Brad J. Bergum Leadership Scholarship. More information can be found in the below links.

EMT Student Scholarships

To be eligible, applicants must:

Have completed an EMT course in North Dakota

Be licensed in North Dakota
All requested documents must be turned in 
Have received their certification within the past 12 months

Dale Severson Memorial EMT Scholarship




Paramedic Student Scholarship

To be eligible, applicants must:

Be enrolled in a nationally accredited paramedic program in North Dakota
Be actively progressing toward graduation
Funds are applied directly to the student’s college tuition account—no later than the spring semester

Application Deadline: November 1, 2026




Brad Burgum Leadership Scholarship

To qualify, applicants must:

Be a member in good standing of NDEMSA
Have a clear interest in leadership development
Outline a plan to use those skills to improve the EMS system in North Dakota

Applications are accepted year-round
